John Cunningham
Structure
mahogany, 1968, signed, titled and dated in ink on the base
55 inches high (including base)
$10,000
This sculpture is part of a small group of imposing, monolithic forms created by Cunningham in the mid- to late-1960s out of wood, metal and polyester. His interest in carving, and the results that different materials will allow, led him in the 1970s to carve smaller forms, with a similar feel to these works, out of blocks of clear and colored acrylic.
