Samuel Butnik
Samuel Butnik was born in 1920, in Cleveland, Ohio. He studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and then travelled widely, living and working in Taos, New York City and in Europe.
His paintings of the 1960s evolved, towards the end of the decade, into hard-edged works similar to the two on this website. His work is in the collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art, Akron Art Museum, Walker Art Museum at Bowdoin College, Providence College, Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin College and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City. Butnik died in 2004.
