The silkscreens illustrated here are from the portfolio "Connections", published in Milan in 1983 by Edizione Fausta Squatriti. This suite provides a fascinating overview of Anni Albers's career, much in the same way the 1972 portfolio "Formulation-Articulation" was an homage to her husband Joseph. It chronicles her work over a sixty year period; from her time as a student at the Bauhaus in Germany, through her important and widely-known work in textile design in the United States in the 1940s and 1950s, and on to her explorations of geometric and hard-edged ideas in the 1960s and 1970s. Each work is signed in pencil and numbered from the edition of 125, and is printed on Umbria Italia paper. The sheets measure 27 3/8 x 19 1/2 inches. |
